Kidney yin deficiency, in traditional Chinese medicine, is defined as condition in which the function of kidney no longer performs its function of distribution of qi and fluid to moister the body properly due to excessive yang or not enough yin in the body caused by spleen's inability in absorbing food qi and essence from the stomach or intake of hot and spicy food.
Since the yin phrase is dominated by yin with subordinated yang, kidney yin deficiency can cause the rise of heat in this phrase.

II. Symptoms
1. Constipation
It is caused by the inability of kidney in distributing fluid to the large intestine.
2. Dry mouth, skin and eyes
It is caused by blood heat moving upward due to liver qi stagnation that affects its function in distribution blood to the blood vessels.
3. Dark, scanty urination and urinary sensation
They are caused by not enough fluid in the body, leaving little for urinary secretion.
4. Hot flush
It can easily be explained by the convention medicine as a result of lack of estrogen.
5. Dizziness
Since kidney is main organ in charge of the production of bone marrow, deficiency of yin disturbs the process, leading to dizziness.
6. Hot palms and soles
Since kidney distributes fluid to the extremities in the body, excessive yang causes hot palms and sole.
7. Reddish tongue with little or no coating
All symptoms of above, generally lead to high BBT in the body during the yin phrase of the body.
III. Causes
1. Intake of hot and spicy food
As we mentioned many time in this series, hot and spicy foods are yang and hot in nature, prolonged period intake of these types of food increase the body's dryness that depress the function in absorbing the yin from the food sources.
2. Occupation
Women who wok in the warm or hot environment for a prolonged period of time will see the increasing body temperature due to the body yin needs constantly to flight off the hot temperature.
3. Spleen qi deficiency
There is always a chance that the inability of spleen in food qi distribution causes of kidney yin deficiency.
4. Aging
Since women is considered as yin in nature, aging causes slowly depletion of kidney essence and kidney yin in the body, according to TCM.
5. Over exercising
Since exercise is yang consumed activity, over exercising causes depletion of the yang in the body

a) Amur Cork Tree Bark (Huang bai)

The cold herb has been used to clear heat, drain fire,high fever with no chill and excessive thirst.
d) Anemarrhena rhizome (Zhi mu)
The cold herb has been used to nourish yin, moisten dryness and treat night sweat, steaming caused by kidney heat patterns.
e) Reed root (Lu gen)
the cold herb has been used to clear heat, generate fluids, prevent the re occurrence of high fever and treat irritability and thirst.
